WORK TRUCK — an exhibit by Samuel James Thompson

Certain construction jobs become a workingman's crucible, forging machismo itself. Where vulnerability gets paved completely over. Where workers' worth and status are constantly challenged and needing proved. And where an invisible forest of men's secrets - drug use, fear, ignorance, racism, pain and abuse - materializes all around, exposed by the relentless vibrations of the grinding 90 hour work weeks and month-long hotel stays. Thompson's first art exhibit "WORK TRUCK" is a wry look at what's in a Silverado's one-ton maximum payload, and asks how that ton got so heavy.
